Emergence of macroeconomics

Macroeconomics as a distinct field of economics emerged primarily due to the work of John Maynard Keynes, particularly his 1936 publication, "The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money". Keynes' work challenged the classical economic belief that economies naturally tend toward full employment and addressed issues like unemployment and the role of government intervention in economic stability.
